The 2nd test between South Africa and the West Indies at the Guyana National Stadium, Guyana has been suspended on the third day due to rain. It’s a bit of sad news for SA as they put up a good lead of 239 runs after 70 overs of the second innings for the loss of five wickets SA scored 223 despite unfavourable conditions.
In the first innings, both sides fell short to score some big numbers on the scoreboard. SA batting first at the loss of 10 wickets only managed to score 160. Shamar Joseph’s 5 wickets and Jayden Seales’s 3 wickets left SA vulnerable. The West Indies innings wasn’t any different. Except for Jason Holder’s half-century, only Keacy Carry scored 26 runs from 37 balls and other batters fell victim to the South African bowling attack. Kasigo Rabada took the highest i.e. wickets in the 1st innings stopping WI at 144 which gave SA a small 16-run lead before the 2nd innings began. SA turned the tables in the second innings. But sadly the rain came to the WI’s rescue as the game was suspended on the third day. Now SA’s strategy will be to build more of the lead quickly before Sunday and bowl its way to the victory according to SA captain Temba Bavuma. Hopefully, the weather favors SA, fingers crossed.
