Australia wins the Boxing day test match against India after 12 Years

Australia clinched a remarkable 184-run victory over India in the fourth Test at the MCG, powered by strong bowling performances. Pat Cummins and Scott Boland took three wickets each, while Nathan Lyon claimed two, helping Australia dismantle India’s batting line-up in the final session.

India began the day chasing a challenging target of 340. Despite a strong start from openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal, Australia’s bowlers soon struck. Rohit and KL Rahul fell in the same over to Cummins before lunch. Jaiswal anchored the innings with a determined 84 off 208 balls, forming a crucial 88-run partnership with Rishabh Pant. However, both batters fell in the third session, with Pant departing after an ill-timed shot against Travis Head.

Australia’s relentless bowling exposed India’s tail, with Washington Sundar as the last recognized batter. Earlier in the day, Jasprit Bumrah ended Australia’s innings at 234 by dismissing Nathan Lyon, who had shared a stubborn last-wicket stand with Scott Boland.

India’s second session resistance frustrated Australia, but the third session collapse sealed their fate. This win highlighted Australia’s dominance and strategic bowling, while India missed out on creating history by chasing a record total at the MCG.
