Manish Narwal won a silver medal in the men’s 10m air pistol SH1 event at the Paris Paralympics 2024 on August 30. With this achievement, Manish became the sixth Indian athlete to win multiple medals in the history of the Summer Paralympic Games. The 23-year-old shooter scored a total of 234.9 points to secure second place in the final at Chateauroux. Earlier that day, Avani Lekhara won a gold medal, and Mona Agarwal claimed bronze in the women’s 10m air rifle event, earning India’s first medals at the 17th Summer Paralympic Games.
South Korea’s Jeongdu Jo won the gold medal in the event with a score of 237.4, while China’s Chao Yang took the bronze. Manish had a challenging start in the competition, scoring only 8.8 points on his first attempt. However, he made a strong comeback, demonstrating resilience and skill. In the final battle for the gold, Manish scored 8.9, while Jeongdu impressed the crowd with a perfect score of 10.8 to take the lead. Manish finished strong with a 9.9 in his last attempt, but his earlier lower scores resulted in a second-place finish.
Manish’s silver medal helped propel India into the top 10 of the medal standings at the Paris Paralympics, surpassing countries like Japan and South Korea.
