Indian Archers Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara beat Spanish Archers Elia Canales and Pablo Acha in an Archery Mixed team quarterfinal event at the Paris 2024 Olympics. In a tight competition, the Indian team won 5-3 (On a points basis) securing a place in the Semi finals.
In total 4 rounds of 4 shots per team Indian team won the first 38-37 while the Spanish team made a back immediately in the second as the shots tally tied 38-38 which means both the teams got 1 point each. The Spanish didn’t stop there a bad shot from Ankita came to their advantage as a result the Spanish won the third round and the points tally was now 3-3. Dhiraj Bommadevara’s exceptional performance got the Indian team the victory they were looking for. Dhiraj consistently shot the last arrows of the 2nd,3rd, and 4th rounds scoring the perfect tens. The minor errors from Ankita did cost India some crucial points but Dhiraj’s perfect 10s covered that up making them a perfect team balancing the performance perfectly. Hopefully, although it was an advantage today this doesn’t become a habit and they both give their absolute best to bring India another medal home at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
