“Man City Secure 2-0 Victory Over Chelsea as Haaland and Kovačić Shine in Premier League Opener at Stamford Bridge”

Man City vs Chelsea (2-0) – City Scores three points in the opening match at Stamford Bridge
Manchester City began their 2024-25 Premier League campaign with a 1-0 lead over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, thanks to an early goal from Erling Haaland while Kovačić’s 84th-minute second goal confirmed three points for City. City, already the record holders for consecutive league titles after winning their fourth straight last season, are aiming for another successful year. However, manager Pep Guardiola believes the team still needs to improve to reach their usual high standards. They are missing key players, including Julian Alvarez, who has moved to Atletico Madrid, and injured midfielder Rodri.

Chelsea, under new manager Enzo Maresca, are looking for a strong start to the season. The first game of the season was nothing but disappointment for Chelsea. There is no doubt they were against last season’s champions but a draw could have been a sigh of relief for the Home team under the new manager.

Guardiola acknowledged that City are favorites to win the league, given their recent dominance, but stressed that every point must be earned and that each season becomes more challenging. Both managers recognize the tough competition ahead, with Guardiola focused on maintaining City’s winning momentum and Maresca aiming to elevate Chelsea’s performance.
